Everyone knows that lawyers speak in a language all their own—a wordy and pretentious language that often leaves laymen baffled and confused. Most Virginians are also aware that the Commonwealth’s General Assembly is made up for the most part of lawyers.
It’s hard enough to follow the jargon that our lawyer legislators use to write the thousands of House and Senate bills that pass through Richmond during every session of the Assembly. Now, however, legalese is creeping into the press releases that are sent out between sessions.
