Miller added that the zoning ordinance had been “drastically changed” as a result of ideas expressed at those community meetings.
If the people of the county aren’t involved in the planning process, then the Planners run the risk of having the Supervisors “cut the guts out” of any comprehensive plan, as has happened in other localities, according to Luke.
This, he maintained, would result in time and money spent for a worthless document. "Either it all hangs together...or it's just a bunch of pieces," he said.
Luke also suggested that the Planners take advantage of RLEP's offer if they needed assistance as the plan progressed. "We do have some qualified people in this county who can help us under the guidance of the Planning District,” he said.
Capelle emphasized that the proposals he’ll bring to the October meeting will be an “outline of what the plan will contain—not how you want me to work on it."
He noted that it will be up to the Planners to decide if they want to use citizen groups or advisory committees. "That has to be hammered out later,” he concluded.

The seminar included discussion of current fashion trends and the latest floor covering decorating techniques, to enable retailers to offer expert assistance to their customers.
