Soccer Begins
The Rappahannock Athletic Association's fall soccer program begins Saturday, September 30. at the elementary school. A clinic on the fundamentals of the sport will be held from 11 a.m. to noon followed by team selection and the first practice session.
Saturday is the last chance for school age boys and girls to register for the soccer program. Fees are $4 per child with a family maximum of $7, no matter how many children sign up from one family. Kids do not need any special equipment but should wear shoes and clothes that are comfortable to run in.
Soccer organizer Don Keithly reported that 70 to 80 young soccer enthusiasts turned out for registration last Saturday despite the rainy, overcast weather. "If we can double that this weekend, we’ll have enough for a good league." he said.
