Combine: 6 cups vinegar 1 cup water 6 cups sugar 21. pickle spices (in bag) 11. celery seed. Put vinegar, water, sugar, spices and celery seed (simmer) don’t boil. Add l‘/i t. powdered alum to mixture...pack pickles, pour vinegar mixture over pickles, put on lids. Process pints or quarts 15 min. in boiling water bath then take out of water. Don’t let cool in water.
