After several years of debate and months of talk, work on Rappahannock’s comprehensive plan is finally under way.
At the county Planning Commission meeting last Wednesday, Planning District 9 Executive Director John Capelle volunteered to draw up an outline of what the plan should contain and agreed to bring his proposals back to the Planners' October 18 meeting for discussion.
At the onset of the session, chairman Herbert Barksdale announced that the Planners wanted to get started on the comprehensive plan if PEW Director Capelle "ever gets a letter from the Supervisors saying go ahead.”
“I think he can start without the letter,” responded Planner E. P. Luke, who is also chairman of the Supervisors. (By unanimous vote at their September meeting, the Supervisors formally requested Capelle to begin on the county’s plan but apparently Capelle did not receive notification before Wednesday.)
