Residents of StonewallHawthorne District are seeking a change in their representation on the county school board. -
On Monday, the supervisors received a petition with 180 signatures supporting the appointment of Jimmy Cannon to the seat now held by Nelson Lane. Lane’s term expires June 30, 1982.
In presenting the petitions, Sharon Kilpatrick reported that the signatures had been collected in less than a week. She described Cannon as a long time resident of the county familiar with the school system “who will be responsive to the desires of many citizens.”
Noting that Lane’s term ends in two months, she asked the supervisors when they plan to act on the vacancy.
