Food and furnishings were supplied to six families whose homes were damaged by fire last year, and the Fauquier Chapter supplied 34 volunteers to work in the area's nursing homes and hospital. In 1981, as in the previous year, the chapter received a certificate of merit for exceeding its quota in the blood drives. Last year, too, the chapter organized a blood drive at Fauquier High School for the first lime; it was so successful it was repeated two weeks ago. Among the most vital of the chapter’s services is first aid and water safety training. Last year, 150 people were trained in standard first aid—well above the previous year’s total—35 in advanced first aid, and 333 in cardiac pulmonary resuscitation. The chapter’s trainers also awarded certificates in the various grades of water safety or swimming to 211 instructors.
