Buntin reported that he'd checked with the jail in Charlottesville and had been informed that Rappahannock prisoners would be accepted if space is available but at a charge of $11 per day. On the other hand, Buntin said, sheriff Ray Dodson in Page has agreed to accept Rappahannock prisoners at no charge if he has room in that county’s facility. He noted that state reimbursement runs about $7 per prisoner per day.
EMS Council Supported
In asking the supervisors for $3,024 for the Emergency Medical Services Council (an increase of $1,005 over the allocation in the preliminary budget), Rappahannock's EM SC representative Donald Gore pointed out that in the three years since its establishment, the EMSC has secured $173,000 in grant funds for Rappahannock's rescue squads. The increase in county contributions is being sought, he explained, to replace decreased federal funding.
