Art On Exhibit
The Clarke County Unit of the American Cancer Society is sponsoring an art exhibit featuring the works of local artist Robert Tuckwiller. The exhibit will be staged in the interesting and historical Burwell-Morgan Mill in Millwood, Va., on May 15. 6-9 p.m. with wine and cheese served, and on Sun., May 16, 2-4 p.m. One of Tuckwiller’s paintings will be given as a door prize.
' -re will be no charge for admission, but donations ' i be accepted. Proceeds from the sale of the prints will go to the Cancer Society. For information call 703955-2478.
Mental Health Meeting
The Mental Health Association of Rappahannock County will have their annual meeting on Thursday, May 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock Library. Mrs. Jo Gorman, executive director of Community Services Board, Culpeper will be guest speaker. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
Benefit Barn Dance
Saturday, May 15th the 2nd Annual Barn Dance and Pie Auction will be held in the beautiful barn at Horseshoe Hollow Farm on the Fodderstack Road outside of Washington, Va. The dance will start at 8 P.M. with plenty of fine old-time music and enthusiastic calling.
The Stable Band featuring Bill Harper playing guitar, banjo and concertina. Skip Cowles on fiddle and mandolin, and Bob Treanor playing guitar will play their great stringband music to the Calling of Jeff Lefkowitz and Sid Gottlieb. Circles, contras and square dances will be taught and called at this dance which is a benefit for the Rappahannock Country Dancers.
During intermission there will be a pie auction. So bring a homemade pie labeled by its variety to the dance and get in for half price. Admission is $3.00 per person to the dance, so bring your dancin’ shoes and enjoy an evening of fine music and dancing, and delicious pies.
