Acting welfare director Nancy Reeve reported that economic conditions have brought about increased demands for both services and financial assistance but assured the supervisors that the department can stay within its proposed budget.
After eliminating just $11,050 in three hours of work, the supervisors moved on to the school budget which they were scheduled to approve on Monday.
School board chairman Beverly Massie again emphasized the need for action on the budget category which includes teacher salaries so as to allow superintendent Robert Estabrook a head start in recruiting teachers to fill 12 vacancies (to date) for next year.
