The recommendations from the special committee will be acted on by the Planning District Commission at its May 27 meeting. "We're trying to second guess what the state's going to do." said the commission's executive director John Capelle. adding that regional priorities should reflect state priorities in order to give local projects a shot at getting the lb points possible for matching both categories.
Capelle reported that block grant application forms are expected to be sent out in mid-June with workshops on filling out the applications tentatively set for mid-July. Deadline for submitting applications to Richmond is September 5 and the Governor is expected to announce grant awards—up to $"00,000 per project—in late September.
