Loyalty Necessary
Since the inception of the effort to establish a center of some sort, the group has been split by internal bickering, noted Frank •Reynolds. Those involved have pulled in different directions—some towards an art center, others towards a community center. “It is absolutely imperative that each member of the board of directors, before they agree to serve, pledge their loyalty..We must operate for the good of this organization first and once we make a corporate decision, we must support that decision, even if we disagree with it,” Reynolds emphasized.
Lee Bird, who has served as chairman during the groups organizational meetings, agreed. “All of the directors are trustees,” he said, with a duty to support the organization and its purpose.
As set out in a statement drawn up several months ago, the aims of the committee to establish an arts center covered:
—sponsoring programs related to the performing, cinematic and fine arts,
—encouraging an artsskills exchange with classes and workshops in such areas as photography, pottery, music and other educational arts and crafts disciplines,
