COMMON RUNNERS COMPLAINTS

Due to poor shoe wear, improper stretching or poor training technique, many neophyte joggers come down with a multitude of foot and leg injuries. Many times those injuries can be due to the poor functioning of the patient’s foot itself.

Achilles tendonitis, a frequent complaint, is an inflamation of the sheathe surrounding the tendon. Patients complain of pain on motion at the heel or leg when walking or running*If severe, rest Is the most important treatment. If only very mild, stretching exercises and the application of Ice after a workout is of some benefit. Remember, in any injury if red or swollen (usually the first 36-48 hrs.) use Ice afterwards. After workouts if there is a mild injury therefore use ice. If persistent, in between workouts use moist heat.
