"That purpose can change as conditions change but it must be in an orderly way as provided for in the by-laws," Bird said.
The original purpose of the group was pin-pointed by Joe Bonsignore in remarks he made as he and the other board members were introduced: "We believe that arts and the development of taste through the arts is absolutely essential...Talent and potential are everywhere. We’d like to help promote the talent in Rappahannock and bring in talent from the outside for the people here to enjoy."
The next meeting of the directors of the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community will be Monday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Washington Baptist Church. At that time, the group will elect officers and formally adopt a statement of purpose. In addition, a report on incorporation efforts is scheduled.
The nominating committee was also instructed to submit nominees for an advisory council-resource bank with suggestions on how this second organizational layer can interact with the board of directors.
