Struggle Over Gun
Whorton said then when Atkins returned he put the gun out the window and pointed it at Irvin Jenkins. John Jenkins walked around the truck and grabbed the gun from Atkins by the barrell which was out the window. After fighting over the gun, John Jenkins took the weapon and put it on the hood of the truck, Whorton told the court. As the men were struggling, the car was running and somehow moved forward, hitting trash barrells. At this point the gun disappeared, she reported.
Whorton said she saw Warner come out of his store and after he went back inside, Irvin Jenkins turned and headed for his truck. Atkins by that time had picked up a bottle and was headed after Jenkins. Jenkins turned in time, grabbed the bottle from Atkins and struck him with the bottle while Atkins was lying on the ground face down. Whorton said she then yelled at Jenkins. “Don't hit that boy
