Although Medical science continues to make great strides in many area, there are still quite a lew problems that are not totally understood The common cold, warts, and heel pain are all similar in that respect The most widely accepted theory is that the long plantar ligament which runs from an attachment at the heel to the front of the foot is under an excessive stress This stress may be from obesity, malalignment of the foot (causing excessive distance), or inheriting a short ligament The vast majority of the time we are able to improve or relieve the symptoms, however there are a few instances where the pain occurs over and over again Rest, medications, realignment of the foot and sometimes surgical procedures are all employed One factor to be stressed is that disregarding heel pain makes it more difficult to get under control
