To make the day’s excursion. we relied on the trains which run conveniently everywhere. After leaving the ferry from Itsukushima, we went on to Hiroshima where Kyoko lived after she was married and before she moved to Tokyo at the end of last year.
Hiroshima is headquarters for Mazda automobile manufacture and I could see the vast area this industry covers when we took a taxi to the top of a mountain behind the city, which is situated on a broad river delta.
