Loudoun Board ot Supervisors Chairman Thomas S. Dodson said Loudoun has grown by some 25.000 people in the last decade, bringing about the construction of 11 schools at a cost of S30 million. The population is expected to grow by an additional 25,000 to 40,000 in the next decade he added.
Dodson defended the county's growth policies, saying it has set forth "specific and equitable policies for managing the location and character of new growth in order to keep the negative effects of growth to a minimum."
Dodson asked for the subcommittee’s support of legislation to control the rate and location of non-farm growth, based upon a locality’s ability to pay for public services as outlined in a capital improvements program and the comprehensive plan. The county backed similar legislation this year but it was tabled in a House committee.
