My concern here arises from the fact that during those 30 years of “disastrous economic policies" which are so troubling to Mr. Reagan, the Democrats were in charge for only 12. In the remaining 18 years. Republicans Ike, Dick. Jerry and Mr. Reagan have been in the White House.
And so, we have an 18year gap in the GOP record of recent history. The memory of an 18-minute gap on a tape some years back inescapably comes to mind.
But it is sad to see Ike. Dick and Jerry so summarily erased; to have them become mere blanks, their places filled by rhetorical liberals who exist only in the oratory of politicians who, of course know better - but who obviously hope the voters will not.
It's this kind of thing coming from either party we ought to pay attention to as the causes of the recession are debated in the campaign months ahead.
