Before breakfast this morning. Kyoko Hata. with her baby Ayumi on her back, and I walked along Rainbow Beach, a block from her parent’s home. Only one other person was there, the man who, with his dog. picks up the litter washed in or dropped by visitors. The clear water’s edge is fringed with light jade green seaweed and I found a number of mussels the waves had deposited. I collected all I could and took them home to cook for breakfast.
