Economic Revival
Ever since the election of President Reagan, the nation, we are told, has been poised on the brink of the greatest economic revival since King Midas developed his golden touch.
That revival was first supposed to come with his election. Then it was assured when he unveiled his economic program, then when the program was enacted by Congress, then at the first of the year, then in the spring, then this summer, and now, like a flitting will-o'-the-wisp, it is being pursued into the autumn with absolute, positive assurance that its realization is at hand.
At each of these benchmarks, the GOP soothsayers were asked why recovery from the recession had not begun, and when it could be expected.
