BIG MEADOWS LODGE (1 mile off Skyline Drive at mile 51.3) opens May 13. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.. Lunch from 12 noon to 2 p.m., and dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.; the taproom will operate from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Horseback riding is available; the stables are open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Big Meadows Wayside is open now with food service, campers' supplies, gifts, gasoline, and shower and laundry facilities available.
BIG MEADOWS CAMPGROUND opened March 5 and will remain available on a first-comefirst-served basis until May 21, when this campground will come under the Ticketron campground reservation system. Reservations are available at Ticketron outlets across the country, by mail, and upon arrival at any campground under the system which has space available. A $2.00 fee is charged for the reservation service, per reservation transaction. (This charge is in addition to the daily camping fee.) Reservations are accepted up to eight weeks in advance of a planned visit. A mail order fom is available by writing Superintendent, Shenandoah National Park, Luray, Virginia 22835. The reservation system at Big Meadows will end for this season on October 24, and space at this campground will return to being available
