Starting on Monday, Rappahannock will have an experimental, volunteer and entirely unofficial employment office.
"Being in this job (as food stamp worker) for four years, especially recently, has proved to me how badly people in this county need one place to go locally to look for a job or to list that they are looking for work,” said Janice Moffett.
Last week. Moffett received approval from the Welfare Department in Richmond to provide that “one place" at the Rappahannock Welfare office. ‘But it’s only going to work if we get cooperation from employers AND from people who are looking for jobs," she stressed.
Moffett’s volunteer effort to provide an employment service doesn't involve any bureaurocratic red tape or lengthy forms to fill out. She plans to start two notebooks — one to list
