The Congressm an reiterated his stand that programs like food stamps ‘‘require adjustment” to make sure that "nobody but the needy” would benefit.
Asked if he would support changes proposed by the Federal Food and Nutrition program to redefine age limits for food stamps, including a proposal to raise the definition of elderly from 60 to 65 years, Mr. Robinson said Congress would not be cancelling out everybody in the age group by changing the law.
"It’s simply not going to happen.” he said.
Mr. Robinson appeared to back away from his previously announced warnings against taking what he called a meat-axe to the defense budget when he predicted that military spending would face additional cuts in Congress in December. However, the
