noise upstairs. I went to the bottom of the stairs. The lights were still out. People were running from room to room, screaming and laughing. All of a sudden 1 heard THUMP! THUD! Everyone ran towards my bedroom. Someone screamed a spine-chilling, hair-raising, blood-curdling scream. Another thud. I paused, as quietness overcame my whole house. I looked up, and slowly ascended, one step at a time. Someone turned the lights on, and the kids came downstairs and said they were bored with that game and wanted to play something else.

“WHERE IS ROBERT?”

"In the bathroom,” said Sarah, very matter-of-fact.

I told them to sit in a circle in the living room. I got the tray of things I had prepared. A couple of girls giggled. 1 turned off the lights. More giggles. I finally sat down.

I told them a scary story about a man who was killed. I passed around the body parts, saying what they were supposed to be, but not saying what they really were. I turned the lights on. Instantly, the room was filled with screams. I tried to calm the kids down, but then I saw what was wrong. The human parts were not pretend. They were real. It occured to me that Robert never came out of the bathroom. I went upstairs and there was Robert. I screamed.
