In last weeks issue of The Rappahannock News, the picture from “Out of the Attic” struck my eye. Having done a bit of research on the Beahm family (I being both related and a genealogist,) I thought the following item which appeared in The Blue Ridge Guide in 1923 might be note worthy and perhaps interesting to some of our citizens.
Death of Our
Oldest Citizen
Mr. George W. Beahm, probably the oldest citizen of our county, died Sunday near Smedley from the infirmities of old age in the 99th year of his life.
Mr. Beahm had been -a remarkably active man all his life and up to a year or so ago retained all his mental and physical powers to a marked degree. He reared a large family, some of whom reside in this county, while others live in distant portions of the Union. Later we hope to give a more extended history of his life. And this appeared later in perhaps the next weeks issue.
