Mary Wood Retired Mail Carrier Mrs. Mary Ann Nethers Wood. 70, of Washington died Thursday. October 21, 1982. at the University of Virginia Hospital. Charlottesville. Mrs. Wood retired in August 1982 from 21 years as rural mail carrier for Washington. Born on October 1, 1912. she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Christie Hawkins Nethers. She was preceded in death by her husband George Warren Wood. Survivors include two sisters. Mrs. Dora Ellen Nethers Updike of Washington and Mrs. Bertha Frances Nethers Burke of Woodville; three brothers, Robert Nethers and George Nethers, both of Front Royal and Charles Henry Nethers of San Diego, Calif.; sixteen nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Moody Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Steve Scoggin. Burial was at Washington Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brian Updike, Franklin Parker Jr.. Philip Parker, John Marshall Clark, Carson Johnson, Richard Burke. Jack Bruce and John Clark Jr.
