C.V.F.D. To Meet
The Castleton Volunteer Fire Department will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 3, at 8 p.m. at the fire hall. All members are urged to attend.
Election Day Bazaar
The Haymarket Woman’s Club will hold its annual election day luncheon and bazaar at St. Paul’s Parish House in Haymarket from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2.
Luncheon, featuring roast turkey and ham, will be served beginning at 11 a.m. Baked goods, hand-made items, antiques and white elephant items will also be offered for sale.
Homemakers To Meet
The Flint Hill Homemakers Club will meet on Monday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the fire hall. All members and interested persons are urged to attend.
Mosby Escapades

Claude Guinn, lifelong resident of Culpeper and specialist in Civil War history, will discuss the life and escapades of John Singleton Mosby at the Nov. 5 quarterly meeting of the Rappahannock Historical Society.
“Mosby. who led a group officially known as the Partisan Rangers, was one of the most colorful people in our area," says Guinn, who has spoken to numerous groups over the past 20 years on various phases of the Civil War. Guinn has prepared a map of the area in which Mosby and his men operated, showing the spot where he was wounded, where he disbanded his group, and many other significant locations.
Guinn is a retired Army major, having served with artillery, armored, and infantry units. He is thus capable of analyzing Mosby s tactics from a military point of view. He is also former post master in Culpeper.
The Rappahannock Historical Society meeting will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. at the society's headquarters on Gay Street, in Washington. Members and guests will be interested in viewing recent improvements to the premises, including a large new display case for historical artifacts, and the refurbished basement. The public is invited.
