Toscano supports stepped-up conservation efforts, investment in solar energy, an indexed fuel assistance program to keep up with the real cost of energy and creation of an Energy Corporation of America or a network of regional energy corporations to compete with the oil companies by undercutting monopoly pricing power and pursuing energy alternatives.
Maintaining that his Republican opponent has voted for federal cuts which have effectively crippled environmental protection in this country. Toscano proposes adequate funds for EPA and vigorous congressional control over their administration. He also supports legislative control of industrial chemicals as part of a national cancer prevention program and legislation that will permit local communities and states to adopt more rigid standards than those of the federal government.
