It happened on Halloween, 1%4. It was a long time ago, but I remember it well.
That year, my daughter Sarah was getting dressed up as a princess. She really looked sweet in her white satin gown.
When people started coming, I let Sarah hand out the candy until Mrs. Huton came with Tina to take them both trick-or-treating. I reminded them to come back at eight-thirty for the party Sarah finally talked me into giving for about fifteen of her friends.
The clock chimed eighto'clock. I was determined to enjoy my last half-hour of freedom while I got everything ready for the party.
