John Daniel Smith, 65, of Culpeper, died on Tuesday, November 2. 1982, at Liberty House Nursing Home in Lynchburg.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday at the Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Bobby Rooper. Burial was in Washington Masonic Cemetery.
A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late James Edward and Bertha Jane Jewel Smith.
Survivors include five brothers, Jackson L. Smith, James E. Smith and Stanley E. Smith, all of Front Royal, Benjamin F. Smith of Culpeper and Stuart B. Smith of Hyattsville, Md. and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Kotones of Arlington.
Ranee L. Spellman

Ranee Lee Spellman died of a shotgun wound Tuesday morning, November 9, 1982, at Points of View Farm between Ben Venue and Flint Hill on Route 729.
Spellman had worked as farm manager for Patricia Saltonstall at Points of View for the past three years. Prior to that, he was president of Canton Construction Company in Amissville.
Spellman was the son of the late Melvin and Garnet Spellman of Amissville. He is survived by a brother, Boyd, also of Amissville.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Spellman was a graduate of Culpeper County High School and attended the University of Virginia for two years. He was active in both the American and Virginia Angus Association and a member of the American and Virginia Quarter Horse Association. Services and burial will b'- Saturday, November 13 at Points of View Farm. It quested that expressions of sympathy be in the form t .ontributions to FORE, the sheltered workshop for the handicapped in Remington.
