Homemakers To Meet
The Washington Extension Homemakers will meet on Thursday, November 18, at 1 p.m. at the home of Lucille Price in Washington. Learn Vegetable Dyeing
Local weaver Kim Jacobson will give lessons on dyeing wool yarns using vegetable dyes from materials such as lichens, oak bark and onion skins. The class is scheduled for Sunday. November 21, from noon to 4:30 p.m. For information and registration, call Jacobson at 9375740.
Craft Fair Opens
County craftspeople Jeanne Drevas and Stephen 1 Shaffer will be among the 143 exhibitors from 18 states and Washington, D.C. at the 7th annual Richmond Craft Fair, November 12-14.
Drevas' baskets and Shaffer’s weavings will be shown at the three-day event along with stained glass, fiber art. porcelain, metal folk sculpture, handmade paper and other crafts representing every medium. The fair will also feature craft demonstrations, a children's section where youngsters will be able to make take-home masks, specialized gift wrapping and a country food emporium.
Hours for Craft Fair 7 will be 8-10 p.m. November 12. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. November 13 and noon - 0 p.m. November 13. Admission is $3 for adults. $2.50 for students with children under 12 admitted free.
Fairy-Tale Opera
Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music's production of Mozart's fairy-tale opera. I he Magic Flute. is scheduled for November 18 and 20 at 8:30 p.m. and November 21. at 3:00 p.m. The Magic Flute, which has philosophical and religious undertones, was first performed in Vienna in I >91 and since has become one of Mozart's most popular operas.
