In your issue of November 4. surely you have chosen about the worst case possible as an example of the need in this county for a new victim witness program.
Mrs. Gregory’s own conduct led directly and unerringly to the tragic events of August 20, 1980, in Middleburg. The facts were undisputed in the open court room. To characterize her as a “victim” and to spend salary and expense money from public funds for four days to shield her from her own shame tells us in advance how our county funds would be misspent if we established such a program here.
If you and Irene Wodell would bleed your hearts over the ex-Mrs. Gregory as a “vulnerable” witness and “victim”, would you also rush to the defence of the woman in Florida who, according to the news today, is suing her lover for S100.000 because she claims he gave her incurable Herpes II in a one-night stand between the sweaty sheets?
