“The way I communicate is with paints and pencils — I’m not so good with words," insists Lois Moore Manookian, Rappahannock artist whose works went on display last weekend at Washington’s Middle St. Gallery.
What Lois communicates through her paintings of Rappahannock's fields and forests, its barns and streams, is a feeling of peace and pleasure, a sense of comfort with her surroundings.
“But there’s another side to me. It does come out," Lois said. It shows in the oil of a solitary, brooding figure gazing out of a window onto a faraw ay farm field.
