She found first the contacts and then the opportunity through Middle St. Last year, Lois was one of several local artists who met regularly at the gallery in the evenings to paint and sketch together.
“Working with a group of artists is like having a teacher do a critique. You learn from each other. You inspire each other,” she explained.
It was after those classes that Dan and Sarah approached Manookian about putting on an exhibit at Middle St. The inspirational burst that saw Lois finish her man at the window and turn sketches of the French countryside into oils followed on the heels of the invitation to exhibit.
“There’s the atmosphere of an art community here now," she maintained. “1 don’t feel as isolated. It was here before but I didn’t know about it,” the artist concluded.
