Don’t Know About
Chestnuts was the title of a feature article in the Rappahannock News of November 2, 1972. In it, the history of the American Chestnut tree and its demise was described. “The American Sweet Chestnut was once an important tree species in the eastern United States. The nuts were highly prized because they were sweeter and richer in flavor than those of most other chestnuts.
“Disaster struck in the early 1900’s when the chestnut blight became prevalent. This fungus soon killed all of these fine trees. ”
A group of Brownies participated in an investiture service. They were Terry Williams, Phoebe Pierson, Michelle Hargett. Wendy Helmer, Gwen Jordan, Sheri Brown, Heather Fannon. Kathy Wingfield, and Eugenia Kritz. Mrs. Donald Jones was the group leader.
