And every week, she slipped off the regime, tempted beyond endurance by the mouth-watering delights she effortlessly whisked from the oven to the table. She had a well-deserved reputation among her family and friends for great cooking, a standing that made it particularly difficult to stick with a diet. “The biggest thing in my life was the fancy, high calorie dessert or exotic dish that was always very fattening," she remembers.
