Mary S. Priest from the Amissville Homemakers Club was awarded Homemaker of the Year honors at the Rappahannock Extension Homemakers achievement night held last Monday at the Amissville Baptist Church.
Other awards bestowed in the evening’s ceremonies went to the Flint Hill homemakers for county club of the year ' and to Washington’s homemakers for top exhibit displayed at achievement night.
Julie Burke’s performance highlighted the program, which included a devotional by Rev. Steve Parker, awarding of reading certificates and a silent auction. A sophomore at Rappahannock County High School, Julie is a member of the Young Dominion, Fauquier's 4-H performing arts group, and was judged one of the top 15 acts in the state in Virginia’s 4-H sharethe-fun finals at VPI this past summer. At achievement night, her version of "Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?” from My Fair Lady earned a standing ovation from the homemakers.
