Old Rappahannock neighbors pass Carol Campbell on the street and don’t recognize her. But Carol isn't offended. After years and years of unsuccessful effort, the svelte and slender woman hiding inside the 100-plus pounds of excess fat that she carried around finally broke free.
The Carol Campbell those old friends knew in the fall of 1981 weighed 249 pounds and wore a size 44 tent. The new Carol Campbell tips the scales at 146‘/2 pounds and looks great in the stylish fashions hanging on the racks in size 12.
Carol found the inspiration she needed in Conway Diet Institute classes, the same classes that she now conducts as a lecturer. Her doctor had nagged at her constantly to lose the health-threatening fat that she began accumulating while a teenager. “I came from a food-oriented family.
