While her style today is more traditional, she uses artistic mediums innovatively. mixing her old silk screen ink with oil pastels to create brilliant colors that leap from, the canvas and capture the vividness of nature.

"I never thought about it before but I guess 1 learned something when I was working for Presentation Associates. It was an exhibit design firm. We did portable exhibits for the Veterans of Foreign War the airline pilots’ association, groups like that. I spent six months on a diorama with an aggravated perspective that gave the illusion of seeing 30 miles — all in about two feet of space." Lois explained.
New Environment
Her family has had a weekend place in Rappahannock since 1962 but it wasn’t until 1976 that Lois moved to the county fulltime. At first she missed the artistic stimulus that can be found in a city full of artists. She visited Washington’s galleries and exhibits often and went further afield, traveling to France in 1977 and returning with a portfolio of sketches that she’s
