With two losses in the past two weeks, the Rappahannock Knights slipped to an even 2-2 record for the season in Fauquier men’s league play.
Led by high scorers Acey Frye and Johnny Smith, the Knights were in first place after victories over Headquarters One and 166th Military Intelligence, both front Vint Hill Farms. The Rappahannock squad took its 2-0 record against Vint Hill’s EMRA Two on January 14 and came away the losers, 62-34. “We usually all get together in Rappahannock, plan our strategy and get psyched up for the game,” reported player-coach Buck Carter. Not only did the Knights miss that pre-game get-together on January 14 but the start of the contest was delayed when only four Rapp players showed up on time. “I thought we were going to have to forfeit,” Carter said.
