By unanimous vote, the planning commissioners endorsed creation of the 3,830 acre East Wakefield Agricultural and Forestal District, sending the AFD application on to the supervisors for action.

The commissioners also gave preliminary site plan approval to the Catholic retreat center on Somarbeth Farm near Huntly. Representing the Catholic Diocese, Jim Bayne reported that programs for engaged couples, young people and families will result in an average of 135 and 148 trips per week by vehicles on route 662.

Prior to the Catholic Church acquiring the property, trips from the main house, 14 rental units and three additional units under construction amounted to 930 per week, using the highway department figures, Bayne reported.
