Center Offers Workshop
A workshop for practicing and potential writers will be held at Christian Center in Syria on Saturday, January 2*). It is the first in a series of five workshops for individuals interested in public or personal writing.
The sessions will cover various types of writing including fiction, poetry, articles, autobiography and journals.
Dr. Jane Purtle, instructor in composition, rhetoric and creative writing, will coordinate the workshop. She is on the Christian Center staff and teaches part time at Gerntanna Community College.

The Gospel Harmoni/ers from Culpeper will perform at Kappahannock County Elementary School on Sunday, January 30 at 3 p.nt.
The event is sponsored by Kenneth White and is open to the public.
Talent On Stage
Seventh graders will present a showcase of talent at a variety show set for February 18 at 8 p.m. in the Rappahannock F.lementary School's auditorium.
Admission will be $l..r>0 for adults. $1.00 for students, with all proceeds going toward the seventh grade’s annual class trip to Williamsburg.

Performances at which local subscriptions will be honored include Kansome Wilson, flute soloist, on Thursday, January 27, 8 p.m., at Fairfax High School; Jack Daniels Silver Coronet Band, a 13piece turn of the century band, on Thursday. February 3, 8 p.m., at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas; Steven and Nadya Gordon, duo piantists who have won acclaim across the country for their faultless work, on Saturday. February 12, 8 p.nt., at Fairfax High School.
