Cigarette smokers beware—your taxes could be going up again under a bill introduced in the Senate by Sen. Charles L. Waddell (DLoudoun).
Sen. Waddell’s bill would allow local governments the option of imposing a fivecent-per-pack tax on cigarettes. Sen. Waddell has sponsored the bill before, but it has been killed.
Members of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, led by Guilford Supervisor Betty Tatum, have sought the authority to levy the tax.
