Castleton has a new post office. Well, maybe only kind of new. The office is still in the Cannon’s home but in Jimmy and Mart>Cannon’s residence instead of Ray Cannon’s real estate office and home.
“Mr. Cannon’s father had the post office for at least 30 years. Then Mr. Cannon had it for 30 years. And keeping the family tradition going, I’ve been postmaster for two years, since Mr. Cannon retired,” Marty Cannon explained.
At first, she kept the mail at her father-in-law’s place. “Six months ago, the postal service said I could move the office to my home. But you know the federal government—you don’t dare do anything until you get it a formal okay. We waited and waited and then they called on a Friday and asked if we could move the office by Monday. I said sure. Then I went home and told my husband and he panicked!” Marty said, laughing.
