COLLIERS MAGAZINE planned
to publish a story on the allwoman election at Washington.
I.T. Tweed, from Colliers, bragged that he had met the prettiest mayor in America after shaking hands with Dorothy Davis.
The “She-Town” issue was to be available for sale at the News office starting October 27. Anyone wanting to reserve an issue was invited to call Washington 2851.
On Sunday, October 15, Shenandoah Park received 27,952 visitors, the largest number of people to enter the park in any one day since 1941. The cars poured along Lee Highway in a continuous stream all day long, at one point making the turn at the Washington signal light at the rate of 26 per minute.
Weather conditions had been good for unusually fine fall colors.
