The new sillouette art introduced with the community correspondents’ columns this week is the work of Linda Heimstra.
She has created a bushel of peaches for Woodville, rolling farm fields for Flint Hill, friendly cows for Castleton, apples for Sperrvville, the court house for Washington, Barren’s Store for Viewtown, the famous ferris wheel at the firemen's carnival grounds for Chester Gap, the flag hoisted at the post office for Boston, the landmark church on the highway for Amissville.
“I tried to capture the essence of Rappahannock County in the little drawings,” the artist explained.
Heimstra operates an art business in Washington next door to the Rappahannock News. She creates distinctive hex signs that are tacked onto barns scattered across the county. Linda gives art lessons to aspiring young painters after school. She also does farm signs, sketches for stationary and
