The ability of each locality to support education and several measures of commitment to education were the subject of a study released early this month by the Virginia Education Association.
The ability of each community to support its schools was measured by its per pupil amount of taxable property in 1981-82. The amount ranged from $646,731 in Surry County to $63,689 in Buena Vista.
