the law, the supervised have the power to deal with the school board budget by category but not by line item. I have no desire to hold any school board to line-item control. But I am not pleased with the way the school board handled its money during the past fiscal year (ending June 30, 1983), and I am a little uneasy at the thought of giving up categorical control immediately.
I firmly believe that it is long past time to deal with the problems at the high school. The longer we delay the more it is going to cost. I would oppose giving the school board a blank check. I stand to the middle ground: I do not want any expansion of the high school to be done so cheaply we are left with not enough space to do the job (like the current basketball court); but I do not see the need for a “Rolls Royce’’ effort such as Culpeper County expended on its new junior high.
4. I am not happy with the dumpsters we are now using. I think serious thought should be given to using the truck-sized dumpsters that are being used in several counties in Virginia. When the board agrees to find a' new land-fill site, I would expect the supervisors to purchase the needed land without being forced to condemnation.
5. I believe that state regulations permit dead animals to be buried in a landfill. The tricky part of this question is “state standards” for a county animal shelter. If memory serves, the
