Thornhill says most fanners haven’t started combining yet. but they should send silage samples to the state. "It can’t hurt to get it tested,” she says, point ing out that the service offered by the state department of agriculture is free.

Ellen C. Manson, a former Washington resident who now resides in Dabney, Virginia, has been elected commissioner on resources and policies by the Virginia Nurses’ Association, a professional organization for registered nurses.
While living in Rappahannock, both Manson and her husband, Charlie, were active in the town of Washington’s volunteer rescue and fire squads. She ran unsuccessfully for the seat representing Hampton District on the board' of supervisors in 1979.
